Senior / Principal Technical & Commercial Advisor — Renewable Energy (Founding Member)
Diligent Energy AI · Remote (Europe) · Full-time or part-time
Diligent Energy AI is an AI-native platform built to accelerate and improve the work of teams investing in, developing, building and operating renewable energy assets. Its due diligence service reads a complete project data room and delivers a bankable technical and commercial due diligence report within 24 hours; AI provides the speed and the depth, and experienced industry advisors provide the judgement and approve every report.
The platform also provides market and grid intelligence across more than 180 power markets, plant design on real terrain with hourly yield simulation, and project and asset management after financial close.
The platform is early access for investors, lenders, developers, IPPs and EPCs in the industry.
We are appointing a Senior / Principal Technical & Commercial Advisor to join the founding team. Reporting to the founder, you will be accountable for the quality of the due diligence work delivered to clients, and when free also help develop the client base, and over time help improve the platform. The company's due diligence practice is being formed now; this seat forms it and helps define the future team.
Your work
• Technical and commercial due diligence. Assessment of utility-scale solar PV, wind, battery storage and hybrid projects for acquisition and financing: technology and design, energy yield and storage modelling, grid connection, land and permits, the engineering side of the contracts, and the financial model. You author, review and approve reports that investment and credit committees act on.
• Client engagements. Supporting investors, lenders, developers and IPPs through the due diligence process, before acquisition or financing and, where required, through construction milestones, including site inspections where the engagement calls for them.
• Business development. Identifying and winning engagements with investors, lenders and developers; scoping, pricing and proposing the work; demonstrating the platform on the client's own projects; representing the company in the market.
• Methodologies and Product: Helping improve what the platform examines and how it reports, and checking its output against your own professional judgement.
Requirements
• Master's degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; an MBA is an advantage.
• Technical depth in solar PV and battery energy storage, including hybrid projects.
• Seven to fifteen years in the renewable energy industry — project development, engineering, EPC, asset management and ideally technical advisory — on utility-scale solar, wind or battery storage projects.
• Within that, several years of technical due diligence for project finance or acquisitions, with personal responsibility for reports that investors or lenders relied on.
• Able to translate technical findings into clear technical and commercial conclusions for the transaction.
• Practical knowledge of grid connection, land, permitting and environmental requirements in several power markets, ideally in Europe.
Professional skills
• At ease working at the leading edge of technology, and curious about it.
• Precise, fluent writing: well-structured reports in English that a committee can rely on.
• Presents and negotiates with clients with authority, and opens new relationships without being asked to.
• Runs several due diligence engagements at once, coordinates external specialists, and delivers to deadline.
• Works independently and takes ownership, and works just as well alongside colleagues.
Nice to have
• Experience reviewing or preparing electrical engineering and grid studies, or ESG due diligence.
• Experience of lender requirements in multiple jurisdictions.
• Prior experience or exposure to AI agents, AI-assisted coding and analysis, and engineering software.
• A network among investors, lenders or developers, and a record of clients who were happy with prior work.
Languages
• Fluent English is essential.
• German, Spanish, Italian, French or Portuguese is a strong advantage.
Remuneration
A salary commensurate with experience, and attractive participation in the founding-team equity incentive plan, vesting over time.
Location and hours
Remote within Europe or Switzerland. Full-time preferred; part-time considered for the right candidate. Candidates must be entitled to work in their country of residence.
