Your new Role
The Senior Portfolio Specialist will be responsible for defining and steering the Global Product Portfolio strategy across Coatings and Personal Care, ensuring alignment between market positioning, lifecycle decisions, and business objectives. This role drives portfolio optimization by balancing customer experience, working capital efficiency, sustainability requirements, and operational performance.
This person will collaborate closely with the Strategic Marketing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, Finance, Sales, Sustainability, and Innovation Delivery teams, acting as the central coordination point for all portfolio-related decisions and priorities.
The Senior Portfolio Specialist will:
- Define portfolio structure, category roles, and positioning logic aligned with segment priorities and value propositions;
- Steer product lifecycle strategies (including MTS, MTO and phase-out) and lead portfolio performance assessments;
- Lead SKU rationalization initiatives supported by clear business cases and measurable value impact;
- Own sustainability alignment within the portfolio, including mitigation of regulatory and risk exposures;
- Coordinate cross-functional decision-making to ensure alignment, transparency, and execution;
- Ensure lifecycle data governance and leverage performance data to support prioritization and decision-making;
- Establish governance standards to enable consistent, data-driven portfolio decisions;
- Balance trade-offs between profitability, service levels, operational constraints, and long-term strategy;
- Drive continuous portfolio improvement through optimization and next-generation initiatives.
A typical day will include setting strategic direction for the portfolio, aligning stakeholders on lifecycle priorities, reviewing performance data, leading decision forums, and driving cross-functional initiatives to ensure a competitive, efficient, and sustainable product offering.
Please consider that this role requires availability for regular international travel – approximately 30% of the time, per year.
What you will need to succeed
As a Senior Portfolio Specialist , you will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Chemistry, or a related field (MBA would be a plus);
- + 8 years of experience in Product, Portfolio, Supply Chain, or Commercial roles within multinational environments;
- Proven experience defining and executing portfolio strategies and lifecycle governance frameworks;
- Experience managing complex, multi-region and multi-plant product portfolios;
- Experience in product rationalization, portfolio optimization, and lifecycle decision-making;
- Strong commercial and operational judgement to balance profitability, customer needs, and operational constraints;
- Experience working with data-driven tools (Power BI) to support prioritization and reporting;
- Ability to lead cross-functional alignment and facilitate decision-making across diverse stakeholders;
- Strong project coordination and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously;
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate business goals into actionable portfolio plans;
- High adaptability in complex and dynamic environments with multiple products and markets;
- Strong collaboration skills across functions such as R&D, Marketing, Regulatory, and Supply Chain;
- Excellent communication skills – Fluency in English.
