About the role

We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Data & AI division based in Portugal. This role is part of a multidisciplinary AI team responsible for designing and deploying advanced machine learning systems that enhance product performance and business outcomes. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, data engineers, and product teams to build scalable, production-grade ML pipelines and infrastructure.

Role Highlights:

Position : Senior Machine Learning Engineer
Type of work : Hybrid from Lisbon, remote from Portugal
Work from office requirements : 1 day per week from the office, 4 days per week from the office. A remote option could be possible if located outside Lisbon.
Type of contract : Full-time employment contract.
Contract location : Portugal

Years of experience required : 5+ years of experience.
Must-have tech skills : Python, Microsoft Azure or AWS, Spark and PySpark, MLflow/Kuberneteflow, ML algorithms and models.

What will you do

Collaborate with Data Scientists to design and deliver automated training pipelines for machine learning models.
Develop scalable solutions for both model training and inference within distributed computing environments.
Implement model evaluation, monitoring, and diagnostic tools to ensure performance and reliability.
Automate deployment processes and expose models through REST API endpoints for real-time consumption.
Build and maintain robust ML serving systems optimized for scalability and efficiency.
Contribute to the optimization of data clusters and compute resources.
Develop internal libraries, tools, and CI/CD pipelines that streamline ML workflows.

Ideally you bring

Proven experience as a Machine Learning or Software Engineer in large-scale, production-grade environments.
Strong expertise in Python development for data-intensive systems.
Hands-on experience designing ML software systems and implementing end-to-end pipelines.
Proficiency with cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure or AWS .
Deep understanding of the machine learning project lifecycle and MLOps concepts (MLflow, Kubeflow, or similar).
Strong background in distributed data processing using Spark / PySpark .
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
