Senior Java Developer em Lisboa, Portugal

As part of its continued growth, the company is looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to help shape the future of AWS-oriented software development practices while contributing to strategic, long-term projects within a highly collaborative and international environment.

About the Role

You will join a Scrum team responsible for delivering high-quality, scalable and cloud-native solutions using modern technologies including Java 21, Spring Boot, AWS and Python. Working closely with software engineers, architects, data engineers and business stakeholders, you will contribute to the design, development and continuous improvement of backend services, APIs and cloud infrastructure that power key business platforms.

Your responsibilities will include designing and developing robust backend applications, integrating solutions with relational databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL, building and deploying applications within AWS environments, and contributing to Infrastructure as Code initiatives using Terraform. You will also play an active role in promoting engineering best practices, supporting junior team members and driving continuous improvement across the development life cycle.

Key Requirements

University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.

More than 6 years of professional experience in Java development.

Strong hands-on experience with Java 21, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JDBC and relational databases.

Proven expertise designing and developing RESTful APIs, microservices architectures and secure backend solutions.

Experience building and deploying applications within AWS environments, including services such as ECS, Lambda, Step Functions, RDS, S3, SQS, SNS and CloudWatch.

Solid knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles.

Proficiency with Python for automation, integration or backend development tasks.

Experience using version control platforms such as GitHub or GitLab.

Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability and cloud-native development practices.

Experience working within Agile environments using tools such as Jira.

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Fluency in English.

Nice to Have

Experience collaborating with Data Engineering teams and integrating backend systems with data platforms.

Knowledge of CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.

Experience with AI-related tools, solutions or frameworks.

Exposure to containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or Developer Associate.

Knowledge of monitoring, observability and alerting solutions.

French and/or Portuguese language skills.
