Mission The Regional MICE Sales Manager is responsible for driving proactive international MICE sales across the UHM portfolio, generating new business, growing revenue and strengthening relationships with key MICE clients and agencies.
Working closely with the Regional Director of Sales, property sales and events teams, GSO partners and other key stakeholders, the role identifies new opportunities, develops key accounts and agency partnerships.
The role also supports new hotels joining the UHM portfolio, helping to introduce them to the international MICE market, build awareness, identify target accounts and generate business from the early stages of their commercial journey.
The Regional MICE Sales Manager acts as a link between the international market and UHM's hotels, understanding client needs and matching them with the right property, product and experience, while sharing market insights and opportunities with the wider team.
Main Responsibilities
Managing Sales Activities Manages UHM proactive sales efforts with a key focus on International MICE business (Predominantly the UK and US market) Proactively source new group and event business opportunities across key MICE segments (Corporate, Association, Incentives, etc.) through direct sales, networking, and strategic outreach. Represents the company and its portfolio of properties at international trade shows, industry events, sales missions, and client roadshows.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with MICE agencies, corporate planners, and event organizers in assigned markets. Identifies and converts new business leads into confirmed group bookings, focusing on long-term revenue growth and high-quality business mix. Conducts regular sales trips and client visits in target markets, ensuring active presence and visibility in the industry. Maintains in-depth knowledge of all event and meeting facilities, room configurations, service offerings, and unique selling points across all properties.
Collaborates closely with property-based sales and events teams to ensure smooth handover and seamless execution of confirmed business. Maintains accurate records in CRM tools, provide market intelligence, and prepare activity and forecast reports as required. Contributes to the annual sales strategy and budgeting process with insights from market trends, competitor analysis, and customer feedback. Serves as the sales contact for MICE customers; serves as the customer advocate.
Provides customer intelligence in evaluating the market and economic trends that may lead to changes in sales strategy to meet or exceed customer expectations. Researches competitor's sales team strategies to identify ways to grow occupancy and RevPAR and increase market share. Suggests innovative marketing ideas and develops deployment strategies to continue to grow market share. Evaluates and supports participation and account deployment with Regional Director of Sales and Brand Group Sales Offices.
Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence). Maintains successful performance by increasing revenues, controlling expenses and providing a return on investment for the owner and UHM. Performs other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs.
Building Successful Relationships Develops strong partnerships with international organizations to further increase brand/product awareness. Develops and manages internal key stakeholder relationships. Develops strong community and public relations by maintaining property participation in local, regional and national tradeshows and client events. Executes exemplary customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the customer and monitoring their satisfaction before and during their program/event.
Serves the customer by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations. Gains understanding of the hotel's primary target customer and service expectations; serves the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solution both prior to, and during the program/event.
Requirements University Degree in Sales or similar background; 1-3 years of previous experience; Extensive travel between properties and abroad; This person has to be focused on proactive MICE business; Good computer skills and a perfect command of English and Portuguese.
