Engineering Manager – Platform and DevOps
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to build and lead our Platform and DevOps function from the ground up. You'll own the infrastructure that every feature team depends on - CI/CD pipelines, cloud architecture on AWS, observability, secrets management, security controls and developer tooling. This is a greenfield remit: you'll define the standards, build the team, and set the foundation for how Uconia's engineering organisation operates at scale.
You'll report directly to the Head of Engineering and work closely with peer Engineering Managers and feature teams to translate product and engineering priorities into platform capabilities. Direct reports will grow from 1–5 engineers as the function scales.
What we're looking for: 7–10 years of engineering experience with meaningful time in platform, infrastructure or DevOps roles. Deep hands-on AWS knowledge (EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch). Strong with .NET Core and familiar with Terraform or equivalent IaC tooling. Proven experience debugging and operating large-scale distributed systems. A security-first mindset - you embed controls into pipelines and architecture, not as an afterthought. Experience leading engineers, including hiring and performance management. Comfortable building from scratch in an environment where the process doesn't exist yet.
Nice to have: Experience with internal developer portals or platform engineering practices. Background in platform functions within a dedicated infrastructure team. Construction tech, PropTech or other asset-heavy industry experience.
Location: Homebased with travel to Lisbon. Infrequent travel to Dublin, covered by the company.
Salary: €75,000 – €95,000. Equity on completion of probation.
