About the Role
As Credit & Collections Manager, you will lead the end-to-end Credit Management and Collections function, supporting a diverse portfolio of European countries within the staffing and workforce solutions industry. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on maximizing cash collections, reducing credit risk, improving working capital performance, and driving operational excellence across the Order-to-Cash (OTC) cycle.
Reporting to the OTC Director, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the regional Credit & Collections strategy while leading transformation initiatives that enhance processes, controls, analytics, and team capabilities. You will collaborate closely with Finance, Sales, Billing, Customer Service, Legal teams, and external customers to deliver best-in-class service and sustainable business results.
Responsabilities:
Lead the European Collections Transformation
- Play a pivotal role in establishing and scaling the Credit & Collections function within the Global Business Services (GBS) Hub in Porto.
- Lead the transition of collections activities from multiple European markets into the GBS organization, ensuring seamless knowledge transfer, process standardization, and operational stability.
- Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing collections team, driving capability development and fostering a culture of accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
Drive Collections Performance & Cash Flow Excellence
- Own end-to-end Collections operations across multiple European markets, ensuring effective management of receivables, dispute resolution, customer outreach, and payment recovery activities.
- Deliver strong cash collection performance by reducing overdue debt, improving Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), and supporting working capital optimization objectives.
- Develop and execute proactive collection strategies tailored to customer risk profiles, market dynamics, and business priorities.
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex customer disputes, high-risk accounts, and collection challenges.
Partner Across the Business
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Sales, Billing, Customer Service, Credit, Legal, and Operations teams to remove barriers to payment and improve customer payment behavior.
- Build trusted partnerships with stakeholders across Europe, aligning collection priorities with business and customer needs.
- Represent the GBS Credit & Collections function in governance forums, service reviews, and strategic business discussions.
Deliver Operational Excellence
- Establish and embed best-in-class collections processes, controls, and performance standards across all supported markets.
- Monitor key performance indicators, including cash collections, DSO, overdue debt, dispute resolution, and bad debt exposure, driving actions to improve results.
- Leverage data, analytics, and reporting insights to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and support decision-making.
Champion Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Drive process harmonization, automation, and technology adoption across the Order-to-Cash cycle.
- Lead initiatives that improve collection effectiveness, enhance customer experience, and strengthen operational efficiency.
- Support the implementation of best-practice Credit & Collections standards while ensuring compliance with local market requirements and regulatory obligations.
Inspire & Develop Talent
- Recruit, coach, and develop Credit & Collections professionals, creating a culture of growth, collaboration, and high performance.
- Set clear objectives, provide ongoing feedback, and empower teams to achieve ambitious business goals.
- Lead by example, promoting excellence, innovation, and a customer-centric mindset across the organization.
Technical Competencies:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Credit Management, Collections, Accounts Receivable, or Order-to-Cash roles within a high-volume, multi-country environment.
- Minimum 5 years of people management experience, with a proven ability to develop teams, drive performance, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrable experience in the staffing, recruitment, or workforce solutions industry – understanding of temp/perm/RPO billing flows is essential .
- Proven experience managing Credit & Collections operations in a GBS, Shared Services, or Captive CoE environment.
- Hands-on experience with ERP Accounts Receivable and Credit Management modules;
Oracle experience preferred. - Track record of leading process improvement initiatives that reduced cash collection performance, reducing DSO, minimizing overdue debt, and mitigating bad debt risk.
- Working knowledge of credit risk assessment, customer portfolio management, dispute resolution, and collection strategy execution.
- Experience working with multiple European markets, including knowledge of local payment practices and commercial considerations.
