About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer – Workflow & Automation, you will join a technology team focused on the development and evolution of automation, workflow and integration solutions. You will work closely with architects and systems analysts to understand software requirements and contribute to the design of scalable and maintainable technical solutions. The role involves designing and developing new features and improvements related to automation, workflows and AI initiatives, while evolving shared backend components used across process automation and integration solutions. You will also help manage technical dependencies between different teams, ensuring that changes remain consistent across systems and avoiding duplicated development efforts. You will work with low-code technologies to develop automation modules while also contributing to Java-based or PHP-based components. As a senior member of the team, you will have autonomy in organising and prioritising your work and will contribute to the technical development of more junior colleagues. 

Key Requirements 
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field. More than 6 years of professional experience in similar software engineering roles. Strong backend development experience and a generalist systems background. Ability to navigate and understand different technology stacks, including Java, PHP and TypeScript. Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming concepts and good practical knowledge of Java. Experience or exposure to process and workflow engines, including BPMN-based platforms or equivalent technologies. Experience with automation and integration tools or low-code platforms such as Flowable, BPMN or n8n. Familiarity with API design, integration patterns and event-driven architectures. Solid understanding of relational databases, data modelling and query optimisation. Comfortable working with Git and collaborative software development workflows. Good understanding of software testing practices and code quality standards. Experience working in Agile development environments. Strong organisational, communication and collaboration skills. Pragmatic approach to software engineering, balancing technical quality with delivery requirements. Fluent English is required.

Nice to Have
Experience working across multiple backend technology stacks. Exposure to Flowable or other BPMN-based workflow technologies. Experience with n8n or similar automation and integration platforms. Experience using Generative AI development tools such as Claude Code. Exposure to Docker and containerisation technologies. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices. Experience contributing to the technical development and mentoring of junior team members.
